Kitara overcome Adjumani 2-1

FUFA Big League leaders- Kitara FC came from a goal down to beat 10-man Adjumani Town Council at Kigaaya COU primary school playground in Kikuube District.
Paddy Muhumuza and a Patrick Kaddu penalty inspired the hosts to a second half comeback on Thursday, January 12, 2023, to consolidate the top spot.
Michael Ajiga had given the visitors the lead at the stroke of halftime before Baduru Issien was sent off late in the second half.
The Royals finished the first round unbeaten at Kigaaya playground, winning all the eight games they have played at home.
For struggling Adjumani Town Council, they have failed to win any of their games on the road.
Kitara who looked like the favourites to take the lead in the opening minutes were too wasteful in front of the goal.
Erick Muber, Davis Ssali, Moses Sseruyidde and John Kisakye all wasted opportunities to put the hosts in the lead.
In the 44th minute, the visitors took a surprise lead to stun the hosts through Issien’s well taken free kick.
Adjumani Town Council went into the break with a surprise lead as Kitara ruined missed chances.
Kitara came back hungry in the second half and in the 67th minute, Muhumuza restored parity to the cheers of the home crowd.
Mark Twinamatsiko’s side took the lead with eight minutes to the end of the game through Kaddu from the spot, after Issien handled the ball in the box and he was later shown red.
Kitara remain top of the table with 30 points after 14 matches while Adjumani Town Council drops to 15th with 12 points.
In the next fixtures, both clubs will return to action on Thursday, January 19, 2023, for the final match of the first round.
Kitara will travel away to Kaaro Karungi at St George’s Arena while Adjumani Town Council will host Luweero United at Paridi Playground.
